Air Fryer Biscuit & Gravy Cups

The Breakfast That’ll Have the Whole Camp Showing Up at Your Picnic Table

Let’s be honest—nothing gets campers moving faster than the smell of bacon, coffee, and sausage gravy.

But serving biscuits and gravy on paper plates while balancing a coffee mug in one hand and swatting mosquitoes with the other? That’s a recipe for disaster.

So we found a better way.

Instead of serving biscuits under the gravy, we turned the biscuits into the bowl. Yep. With nothing more than a can of refrigerated biscuits, a few balls of aluminum foil, and an air fryer, you can make crispy edible biscuit cups that hold creamy homemade sausage gravy like they were born for the job.

Less mess. More fun. Zero dishes to wash when someone inevitably asks for seconds.

Recipe Details

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Servings: 8 biscuit cups

Ingredients

For the Biscuit Cups

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits
  • Cooking spray or melted butter
  • Aluminum foil

For the Sausage Gravy

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2½–3 cups whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, crushed red pepper, or a pinch of rubbed sage

How to Make the Biscuit Cups

Step 1

Preheat your air fryer to 330°F.

Step 2

Crumple aluminum foil into balls about 2 to 2½ inches in diameter. Wrap each one with another piece of foil so they’re smooth.

Step 3

Flatten each biscuit into a 4–5-inch circle.

Place a foil ball in the center of each biscuit.

Fold the dough up around the sides, leaving the top open to create a bowl shape.

Wrap another loose piece of foil around the outside to help hold everything together while cooking.

Step 4

Brush with melted butter or lightly spray with cooking spray.

Air fry for 8–10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Allow the cups to cool for a couple of minutes before carefully removing the foil.

Homemade Sausage Gravy

While the biscuit cups cook, make the gravy.

Brown the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles.

Leave about 2–3 tablespoons of the grease in the pan.

Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir continuously for about 2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste.

Slowly whisk in the milk.

Continue stirring until the gravy becomes smooth and thick, about 5–8 minutes.

Season generously with black pepper and add salt only if needed.

If the gravy becomes too thick, simply whisk in a little more milk.

Assemble

Fill each warm biscuit cup with generous spoonfuls of homemade sausage gravy.

Top with:

  • Crumbled bacon
  • Fresh chopped chives
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh cracked black pepper

Serve immediately while everything is hot and flaky.

Camp Chaos Tips

Add garlic butter. Brush the finished biscuit cups with melted garlic butter before filling them.

Want a little heat? Stir diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne into the gravy.

Need to feed a crowd? Double the gravy. Trust us—you’ll need it.

Make it a breakfast bar. Set out scrambled eggs, bacon, shredded cheese, hash browns, sausage gravy, hot sauce, and green onions so everyone can build their own masterpiece.

Storage

Store leftover gravy in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Reheat slowly on the stove with a splash of milk to bring it back to a creamy consistency.

Biscuit cups are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these in the oven?

Can I use homemade biscuits?

Definitely! Just flatten the dough to about 4–5 inches before wrapping it around the foil mold.

Can I freeze the gravy?

Yes. Freeze it in an airtight container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat with a splash of milk.

Camp Chaos Corner

Every campground has that one person who volunteers to make breakfast… until they realize they’re feeding twelve hungry campers who all woke up at the exact same time.

These biscuit and gravy cups solve that problem beautifully. Everyone grabs a cup, fills it with gravy, piles on their favorite toppings, and gets back to what’s really important—sitting around the campsite debating whose snoring rattled the RV all night.

Breakfast doesn’t have to be fancy to be memorable. Sometimes all it takes is a can of biscuits, a skillet full of sausage gravy, and a little Camp Chaos creativity.

So pour another cup of coffee, hand someone a spoon, and watch these disappear faster than your camping neighbors can say, “Hey… can I get that recipe?”
